Oh Christmas tree

With a new year, must come new ideas...so I've decided to try my hand at blogging. My husband says I spend too much time on the computer anyway, but really, how much spare time does a mommy of a 9 month old have?!

We decided to venture out this evening in search of a new Christmas tree for next year. The one we've been using belonged to my mother, and since she's adding a new living room onto her home, she's going to have room for the larger tree next year. So, sadly, she confiscated the tree this weekend. In a way, it's kind of sad, because for nearly 28 years, the Christmas tree has been the same for me year after year. Well, the decorations, not necessarily the tree. I've always loved the look of our tree, and mostly, the sentimental value lots of those ornaments hold for our family. But, I guess with a new family of my own, and a little one that will "understand" Christmas a little more next year, it's time to start our own traditions. So, we loaded up and headed into Jackson. We lucked out and found the exact tree I wanted at Hobby Lobby, and much to my suprise, they still had one in stock. I never asked the price, just assumed it was all on sale. When the cashier rang it up, I was shocked to see my savings! I got a $250 tree for $50! Can't beat that!

We decided to grab dinner out...and apparently, so did the rest of the nation. We received a gift card for Christmas, and was going to put it to good use at Longhorn, but the wait was nearly 90 minutes and there wasn't even standing room. Everett, my 9 month old, has discovered his "volume control" and loves to see how loud he can yell. He's not mad, or hurt, he just finds it entertaining. I knew it wasn't the place for us with all those people in such a tight space. So instead, we had dinner at Logan's, which is never turned down by my husband. (He loves, loves, loves the rolls!) After an hour wait, we were seated and settling Everett into his seat when the waiter brought out our drinks. I quickly moved my water to the other side, out of E's reach. Needless to say, Daddy didn't..and a Dr Pepper rained down on our parade. Our waiter was great, bringing out clean towels, new drinks, and even a dry high chair.

After a quick run through Wal-Mart, we made it home. Now, E's all snuggled up with his elephant, and it's quiet in the house. There's still things that need to be picked up and laundry to be folded, but there's still tomorrow. For now, I think I'll watch a movie with my hubby
